Where this comes from

More than twenty-five years of Lean and agile work. Fifteen of them inside Toyota, where I grew from developer to project lead and lived the move from waterfall to iterative delivery from the inside. Kaizen, PDCA and A3 were daily practice there, not theory, and they still shape how I look at an organisation: go and see, find the constraint, change the system, measure.

Since then I have built and coached product-development teams, and guided transformations in telecom, public broadcasting, publishing, international rail, government digital services and retail — from scale-ups to organisations of several thousand people, and from a single team to more than a hundred in one operating model.

Along the way I taught, facilitated and coached: agile coaching teams, leadership teams, Product Owners and Scrum Masters; planning and strategy sessions from one team to a room of hundreds; and LEAT®, my own experiential learning approach built on simulation and LEGO® Serious Play.

How I work

Agile and Lean are the toolkit, not the goal. The goal is a system in which decisions are taken where the information is, money follows value, and results are measured rather than reported. I work people-first, from the work floor to the boardroom, with measurable objectives as the compass.

We do the work together. I start, facilitate and coach; the organisation owns the change. High-performing organisations still need reflection and coaching — the goal is not dependence on an external coach, but enough internal capability to inspect and improve the system without one.
