Agile governance · audit · transformation coaching

Teams rarely get further than the system they work in.

Most agile transformations do not stall on the teams. The ceremonies run, but budgets are fixed a year ahead, priorities arrive through six channels, and managers are still judged on predictable output instead of outcome. Beyond Agile changes that system with you — governance, decision rights, funding and metrics — so agile produces business results rather than ceremonies.

Track record

100+ teams Large telco

Designed a value stream-based scaling framework with full Lean Portfolio Management governance, and led the training and mentoring approach across the organisation.

10 → 4 chapters Midsize scale-up

From technology silos to end-to-end product and platform teams: 10 chapters and 11 teams became 4 chapters and 6 teams, without losing capacity and with higher throughput.

25% less overhead Multimedia broadcaster

Twelve teams and their management layer refocused on customer value, reducing overhead by more than a quarter while delivery went up.

Services

Start where the constraint is

Two of these are rare, and they are where most of the leverage sits. The rest is the craft that makes the change stick.

Governance

Agile governance that speeds decisions up

ISO- or COBIT-compliant governance models, designed with you: clear roles, explicit decision rights, and a cadence in which decisions actually get made. Compliance and adaptability in the same system.

Audit

An unbiased agile state of affairs

People, structures and content, scored on maturity dimensions and delivered as findings, do's and don'ts, and a transformation backlog you can act on. Five days to one sprint on site, with findings from day one.

Reset

When agile is not delivering results

Trained teams, running ceremonies, and still no business outcome. A reset realigns leadership, purpose and the operating system around the results you need.

Coaching · Training · Facilitation

Capability that stays behind

Coaching for agile coaches, Scrum Masters, Product Owners and management. Training from one person to a thousand. Facilitation of big room planning and strategy sessions — with LEAT®, experiential learning built on simulation and LEGO® Serious Play.

Method

Diagnose, design together, make it measurable

Agile State of Affairs

An analysis along three perspectives — people, structures and content — scored on fixed maturity dimensions: way of working, flow and delivery, customer value, team dynamics, roles, leadership and continuous improvement. Not to produce a score, but to expose where work sits still, where decisions are made, and where structure and strategy collide.

Target operating model and governance cadence

An operating model only becomes real once it is in the calendar. The rhythm — quarterly review, big room planning, portfolio and epic sync — is designed as a proposal, with a clear question, participants and decision per event. What you adopt, you decide together.

A transformation backlog, not a plan

Do agile agile: every epic a strategic objective with a measurable OKR, every feature a visible outcome with an owner and acceptance criteria, every story a step you can test in practice. Inspectable and adjustable, instead of a plan that ages.

Coaching until the organisation carries it

Coaches, teams and leaders, with the management system moving along. A system you let go of slides back to its old habits — even a top team keeps its coach — so the work is to build internal coaching capability that carries the maintenance itself.

Who you get

Martijn Oost

Martijn Oost

Beyond Agile is my practice. My lean foundation was laid over fifteen years inside a Japanese automotive manufacturer, where I grew from developer to project lead and lived the move from waterfall to iterative work from the inside — Kaizen, PDCA and A3 as daily practice rather than theory. Since then I have guided transformations in telecom, public broadcasting, publishing, international rail, government digital services and retail — from scale-ups to organisations of several thousand people. Client names on request, under NDA.

I work people-first: facilitation, experiential learning and coaching from the work floor to the boardroom, with measurable objectives as the compass. Agile and Lean are the toolkit, not the goal.
